John 3:5-7
King James Version
5 Jesus answered,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh;
and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,
Ye must be born again.
Are you born of GOD?
How do you know you are born of GOD?
What does it mean to be "born of GOD"?
Here's what Scripture specifically says:
1 John 3:9

9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin;
for his seed remaineth in him:
and he cannot sin,
because he is born of God.
1 John 5:1
King James Version
5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ
is born of God:
and every one that loveth him that begat
loveth him also that is begotten of him.
1 John 5:4-5

4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world:
and this is the victory that overcometh the world,
even our faith.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world,
but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5:18

18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not;
but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself,
and that wicked one toucheth him not.
John 1:12-13

not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man,
but of God.
In summary, those born of GOD have the following characteristics:
1. He does not commit sin.
2. He believes JESUS is the CHRIST.
3. He overcomes the world.
4. He is able to overcome the world because he believes JESUS is the SON of GOD.
5. He does not commit sin, and thus is not touched by the wicked one.
If you are all that, then you know YOU are of GOD.
1 John 5:19

19 And we know that we are of God,
and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
