Why Did Jesus Have to Die?

Why did Jesus offer His life for us?

Here are the SCRIPTURE verses which explain why, taken a phrase at a time, so we may understand better the enormity of each phrase, and of the LORD's sacrifice.

Some may mean the same thing, but I merely loved the different use of words, as you shall soon see.

1. To destroy the devil

14 Forasmuch then as the children

are partakers of flesh and blood,

he also himself likewise took part of the same;

that through death he might destroy him

that had the power of death,

that is, the devil;

Hebrews 2:14 (King James Version)

2. In fulfillment of Scripture

46 And said unto them,

Thus it is written,

and thus it behooved Christ to suffer,

and to rise from the dead the third day:

Luke 24:46 (KJV)

3. To reconcile us with God.

18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins,

the just for the unjust,

that he might bring us to God,

being put to death in the flesh,

but quickened by the Spirit:

1 Peter 3:18 (KJV)

4. To give us eternal life.

15 And for this cause

he is the mediator of the new testament,

that by means of death,

for the redemption of the transgressions

that were under the first testament,

they which are called

might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 9:15 (KJV)

5. To die for the ungodly.

6 For when we were yet without strength,

in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Romans 5:6 (KJV)

6. To redeem us from our sins.

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood,

the forgiveness of sins,

according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 1:7 (KJV)

7. To redeem us from the vain traditional ways of our forefathers.

18 Forasmuch as ye know

that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,

as silver and gold,

from your vain conversation

received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ,

as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV)

8. To resurrect Himself.

17 Therefore doth my Father love me,

because I lay down my life,

that I might take it again.

John 10:17 (KJV)

9. To reveal His power over death.

18 No man taketh it from me,

but I lay it down of myself.

I have power to lay it down,

and I have power to take it again.

This commandment have I received of my Father.

John 10:18 (KJV)

10. To show His love for us.

5 And from Jesus Christ,

who is the faithful witness,

and the first begotten of the dead,

and the prince of the kings of the earth.

Unto him that loved us,

and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Revelation 1:5 (KJV)

The Simplicity of the GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST

1 Corinthians 15:1-4

King James Version

15 Moreover, brethren,

I declare unto you the gospel

which I preached unto you,

which also ye have received,

and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved,

if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you,

unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all

that which I also received,

how that Christ died for our sins

according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried,

and that he rose again the third day

according to the scriptures:

From that, you can gather the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ was three things, according to apostle Paul:

1. "that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;"

2. "And that he was buried,"

3. "and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

How the fallen one makes sure we forget the simplicity of CHRIST's Gospel and legacy, ensuring our salvation.

2 Corinthians 11:3

King James Version

3 But I fear,

lest by any means,

as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty,

so your minds should be corrupted

from the simplicity that is in Christ.

We are subject to confusion, and obfuscation, for those are the ways of the evil one.

We must hold fast to God, and the WORDS of Jesus, through SCRIPTURE.

The teachings of Jesus are simple, often delivered as parables, so everyone may understand.

Parents and teachers often teach children, through stories, so they may understand life's lessons.

In the same manner, we must be teachable, too.

We must be like little children, completely trusting in the LORD.

Matthew 18:3-5

King James Version

3 And said,

Verily I say unto you,

Except ye be converted,

and become as little children,

ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself

as this little child,

the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And whoso shall receive

one such little child in my name receiveth me.

Let us not be wise to the ways of the world, and thus, end up being foolish:

1 Corinthians 3:18-19

King James Version

18 Let no man deceive himself.

If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world,

let him become a fool,

that he may be wise.

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

For it is written,

He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

We all labor for God, making sure we get the GOSPEL of Jesus CHRIST right, as could be shown in the life we live, and the work we do -- only if we are CHRIST's.

1 Corinthians 3:9

King James Version

9 For we are labourers together with God:

ye are God's husbandry,

ye are God's building.

Apostle Paul cautions:

1 Corinthians 3:10

King James Version

"...But let every man take heed

how he buildeth thereupon."

And in the same vein, he continues, and emphasizes:

1 Corinthians 3:11

King James Version

11 For other foundation can no man lay

than that is laid,

which is Jesus Christ.

JESUS is our ONLY foundation.

The GOSPEL of Jesus Christ is the one which we must build our lives and work from -- our belief that the LORD Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose on the third day.

Let no one distort, nor pervert, the Gospel of JESUS Christ, for the wrath of God is sure upon us:

Galatians 1:6-9

King James Version

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed

from him that called you into the grace of Christ

unto another gospel:

7 Which is not another;

but there be some that trouble you,

and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But though we,

or an angel from heaven,

preach any other gospel unto you

than that which we have preached unto you,

let him be accursed.

9 As we said before,

so say I now again,

if any man preach any other gospel unto you

than that ye have received,

let him be accursed.

The warning has been sounded, may we take heed, for God knows ALL we think, say, and do.

May it glorify Him, and not ourselves.

Why are we so beholden to the world, when there is only God?

1 Corinthians 3:19-20

King James Version

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.

For it is written,

He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

20 And again,

The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise,

that they are vain.

If we wish to have eternal life with Jesus, then we follow Him alone.

We must drop anything, and everything, that is not of Christ.

Again, Jesus says it so SIMPLY here:

John 14:15

King James Version

15 If ye love me,

keep my commandments.

Of course, we cannot accept the simplicity of the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ, much less love Him, unless we have been born of water, and spirit -- only then can we understand SPIRIT.

John 3:3-8

King James Version

3 Jesus answered and said unto him,

Verily, verily,

I say unto thee,

Except a man be born again,

he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him,

How can a man be born when he is old?

can he enter the second time into his mother's womb,

and be born?

5 Jesus answered,

Verily, verily,

I say unto thee,

Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,

he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.

8 The wind bloweth where it listeth,

and thou hearest the sound thereof,

but canst not tell whence it cometh,

and whither it goeth:

so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Then, and only then, upon embracing Christ in full, can we know this, and be this:

1 Corinthians 3:23

King James Version

23 And ye are Christ's;

and Christ is God's.

AMEN!

What the Baby CHRISTIAN Found

Martin Luther nailing his "95 Theses

at All Saints' Church in Wittenberg in 1517.

Cleaning up some stuff at home last year, I "chanced" upon an old social studies book from our high school days, and browsed it. I found something very telling. As is always the case, I "filed" it for a future article or exploration.

Well, the time has come to share it with you now.

I've always liked social studies, for I learned more about the goings-on in the world.

It's always good to look back into history, and see how it had been.

When I became a born-again Christian last year, many wonderful things happened, leading me to God's TRUTH alone, which I sought all my life.

I know that the Holy SPIRIT of God led me to follow Jesus, to find that book, to open that book on that certain spot, at that perfect moment, and now, to share with you.

Of course, I'm no theologian, and surely, this thing I'll share now, is probably old hat to many religious leaders.

But I'm a baby Christian, so new at this, and enjoying my many discoveries.

It's as if God enjoys leading me to my "little" discoveries, which actually make up the WHOLE.

They may be simple discoveries, but for me -- the researcher -- they are PROFOUND, for my heart is not jaded, and I enjoy where God leads me each day.

I think, God likes patience, and perseverance. But let me get back to that discovery now.

A passage in that old high school book was very illuminating.

In comparing Catholics to Protestants, I was intrigued by this statement:

6. "Catholics believe in the Bible, good works, prayers, and church aid in winning salvation. Protestants regard the Bible as man's sole guide to salvation."

"...the Bible as man's sole guide to salvation."

That was the one that really caught my eye, echoing everything I had been learning about being a born-again Christian since I first embraced Christ on 6 September 2019 -- on staying true to the WORD of God -- the BIBLE.

I knew then that I was on the RIGHT track with God.

That book finding also echoed an article I wrote last year, featuring Mike Gendron, a vocal challenger of the ways of the Catholic church.

Please listen to that "Christ Alone" Gendron video to open your heart to the truth of CHRIST and the Bible.

Funny that all these things surfaced early this morning for me.

Of course, that only meant I was tasked to write about it and present to you my findings, based on all you will find here.

If you are a true worshiper of God, you will be led to the teachings of Jesus -- the SON of God -- and you will be guided to everything about Jesus, by the Holy Spirit of God.

That is the process of knowing the TRIUNE God -- God, the FATHER; God, the SON; God, the Holy SPIRIT.

Let it be known the enemies of Christ will do everything to hide, and distort, His TRUE teachings.

These principalities are sly, crafty, cruel, perverted, and completely destructive. You must be awake, and aware, at all times, for they wait to see a weakness in you, an "opening" to infiltrate your faith, with the objective of mocking God, stealing you from Him, destroying your soul, and of course, leading you away from the BIBLE.

Sorry, we Christians look to the Bible as our ONLY source for God's WORD, and God's Word is JESUS.

It's a lost cause for the enemy.

33 These things I have spoken unto you,

that in me ye might have peace.

In the world ye shall have tribulation:

but be of good cheer;

I have overcome the world.

John 16:33 (King James Version)

The Ideal Way of Life

1 Blessed is the man

that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,

nor standeth in the way of sinners,

nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord;

and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,

that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;

his leaf also shall not wither;

and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psalm 1:1-3

King James Version

What would be the ideal way of life for you?

Only you can answer that.

And only God would know what your real answers are.

You answer to the LORD alone.

For myself, since I've committed my life to Jesus, I found that a simple life -- simpler than I already have been living -- works for me.

The only objective, being to be able to focus completely on the Lord.

Fortunately, I've always been a person who can sit quietly, alone, for hours on end, not looking to occupy myself with things of the world.

My whole life seems to be cut out for simplicity, solitude, and study.

God also gave me a life filled with myriad challenges, which have taught me much.

I chose to let it teach me, and I must say it's a wonderful feeling to "reverse" thinking.

Where it would break other people, I chose that it teach me instead.

You have to believe in something GREATER than yourself, so you can keep going.

And I always sought the SUPERLATIVE -- the greatest.

Who better than to focus on GOD, the mighty, and powerful God of my childhood, and practically all my life!

God trained my heart, mind, body, and spirit to serve Him, even as errors from the past had to be brought to His Son, Jesus, for forgiveness.

But peace reigns in my heart now, more than ever.

A person used to solitude, and thinking independently of others, doesn't need much to live on.

And when you serve Christ, aiming to follow His Will, making sure you get things right, the joy is immeasurable.

It is not difficult to follow Christ, for throughout my life, I've questioned the nonsensical demands of the world.

I would often question its ways, and wonder how people could live comfortably, and refuse to see the plight of their less fortunate brothers and sisters.

Because of my love for low-cost housing, I researched on alternative ways of building homes for people in my country.

A lady lawmaker was even ready to fund my ideas for her province, but I suppose, I wasn't ready then.

What I do have are ideas, and research.

And perhaps, I have the heart to fulfill those, at a time God chooses, and in a manner He sees fit.

But no sooner.

Had I been ready then, I would have poured my whole life into it.

But God knew I still had much to learn in life, and the lessons continued.

Somehow, I knew that I would teach.

I knew that I would also write.

I was always cut out for both.

God also created me to teach and write differently.

He knew I liked to simplify things, for I didn't believe in wasting other people's time, nor confusing people.

I had respect for the intelligence of people.

I also knew I would not get rich, in the worldly sense of the word.

I questioned too much.

I was not a "player", who would follow blindly.

Perhaps, you are the same?

Are you the type to question the "system"?

I'm glad.

God likes people who set out for TRUTH.

God likes people who care.

I know that if we all took it upon our hearts to love each other, with God in our hearts, there would be no hunger, poverty, misery, and crime.

When I became a follower of Jesus last year, all my thoughts and feelings were further reinforced, that the fallen one has really made sure people forgot God.

This enemy of Christ made sure people were distracted with material things, and that their hearts, minds, bodies, and spirits were distorted -- and farthest away from God.

But Jesus is the LIGHT of the world.

When your heart awakens, you will surely seek HIM.

And when you find Him, you will forever be changed.

You will know how to live, how to love, how to serve, how to worship, how to pray.

The Holy Spirit of God will show you everything you need to know, in order to survive in this fallen world.

You will be mocked, tested, doubted, maybe even impoverished, but keep strong.

The LORD has your back.

Better than that, He's got your heart, and you have HIS.

That's the ideal way to live.

Seek NOT wealth

JESUS said:

"But many that are first shall be last;

and the last shall be first."

Matthew 19:30

King James Version

Consider this is a companion article to what I wrote a week ago, "What a JUST Society Ought to Be".

But these articles had to be written, if you are a true follower of Jesus, or wish to follow Him.

The LORD carried nothing, save for God in His heart.

He ministered to the lowly, the forgotten, the sick, the sinful, the possessed, the sick in spirit.

That was the whole purpose of His ministry, to be there for people that others don't care about, or wish to forget.

If we are true followers of Jesus, we cannot shun our brothers and sisters suffering, because society purposely forgot them.

These covid days are very telling.

If you want to know what the rich are up to, pray to God.

The Holy SPIRIT will enlighten you.

But the rich are in a precarious place.

Their souls are at stake.

They cannot buy their way to heaven, even with good works.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith;

and that not of yourselves:

it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works,

lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

King James Version

Further, listen to what Jesus said, when a wealthy, young man asked what he lacked, considering he had followed the 1o Commandments, from "his youth up".

And this is how Jesus replied, to the great sorrow of the young man:

21 Jesus said unto him,

If thou wilt be perfect,

go and sell that thou hast,

and give to the poor,

and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:

and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying,

he went away sorrowful:

for he had great possessions.

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples,

Verily I say unto you,

That a rich man shall hardly enter

into the kingdom of heaven.

24 And again I say unto you,

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle,

than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Matthew 19:21-24

King James Version

Has the enormity of that, sunk in yet?

Poverty and wealth can be measured, not by material lack, or riches alone, but primarily from the lack or riches of the spirit.

A true believer of CHRIST does not have a desire for the things of the world.

The world cannot offer us true love, peace, or joy.

Sure, perhaps, momentary delights will work.

But I assure you, those are the things that will endanger our soul.

Our heart is all God cares for.

10 I the Lord search the heart,

I try the reins,

even to give every man according to his ways,

and according to the fruit of his doings.

Jeremiah 17:10

King James Version

The mighty CREATOR has no need for your worldly offerings, and possessions.

Those are all man-made -- for distractions -- so you may forget to worship God.

Let's not forget who rules the world.

God only cares to know what you have in your heart.

There is no hiding ANYTHING from God.

All He cares about is:

Do you believe in Him?

Do you love Him?

Do you love His SON?

Do you love each other?

Can you offer your ALL to God?

Will you follow Jesus?

Will you listen to the Holy SPIRIT of God?

Is God the only Spirit that fires up your life, and being?

Those are the questions that matter to God, if you were to follow SCRIPTURE -- the Word of God.

JESUS is the WORD of GOD, so Jesus and Scripture are one, and the same.

All instructions for living our lives are on the Bible.

We only have to believe in JESUS, repent, watch, study, pray, obey, and not worry about the things of the world.

Long after we're all gone, Jesus will still be here.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away,

but my words shall not pass away.

Matthew 24:35

King James Version

Even as I wrote this piece, only the SPIRIT of GOD can touch your heart, as He did mine, thus, I was able to write this.

Seek not wealth, my dear friends.

Seek only GOD.

Your whole future, and those you care for, completely hinges upon CHRIST.

He is our SALVATION.

He always lived by example.

Our peace and hope lie in JESUS alone.

What is the Purpose of Evil?

Matthew 4:1
King James Version
4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit
into the wilderness
to be tempted of the devil.

Why is evil in the world?

What purpose does it serve?

How are we to overcome it?

That verse above was very telling.

I just let the SPIRIT of God lead me, and bring me into understanding.

Fortunately, I have a simple brain, and don't look for what's not there.

But here's what I found:

The Spirit allowed temptation to come upon Jesus.

Even as He had fasted for 40 days, and 40 nights, Jesus triumphed.

If satan was coded to destroy; Jesus was coded to TRIUMPH.

Jesus did not have a desire for power in this world.

He was already "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS".

There was nothing to prove.

But satan exists to prove something.

He wants the THRONE of GOD.

Isaiah 14:13
King James Version
13 For thou hast said in thine heart,
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation,
in the sides of the north:

Jesus leads by example.

That means, He showed us how to conduct ourselves, in the face of temptation, and to triumph in God.

The Son of God became Son of man, so He can show us how.

He became flesh, suffered, and died for our sins, and rose on the third day, and went back to heaven, where He came from.

Evil makes itself complex, to confuse us.

But if your heart is right with the LORD, and you read SCRIPTURE, plus, you're born of the Spirit, evil cannot take root in you.

Evil aims to cloak everything in darkness, so we won't see the "light of the glorious gospel of Christ".

It has to be what it is, for JESUS to be WHO He IS -- the Savior, and Redeemer.

You cannot fight, if there is no enemy.

In this case, the enemy made himself known, loud and clear:

Isaiah 14:12
King James Version
12 How art thou fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer,
son of the morning!
how art thou cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken the nations!

Jesus showed us how He managed temptation many times, and put evil in its place, knowing we can do the same, if we are OF God.

Everything in the New Testament shows JESUS leading by example.

Evil aims to corrupt, to destroy, to mock, but if you are God's own, what can evil do?

James 4:7
King James Version
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you.

Evil exists so you can test your faith, and belief, in God.

Can you handle all the trials, and temptations?

Can you handle the distractions, and confusion?

Can you handle the mockery?

Believers can!

Listen to this verse:

1 Corinthians 10:13
King James Version
13 There hath no temptation taken you
but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful,
who will not suffer you to be tempted
above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.

You will not be tempted "above that ye are able".

There is a "way to escape", that "ye may be able to bear it".

The LORD is truly merciful.

We will not be tested, beyond our limits.

God really cares for us.

We are not without help.

Be not afraid.

We have the arsenal to conquer evil.

We have JESUS.

We have the WORD of God.

We have the LOVE of God.

It's all JESUS.

Evil Trembles Before GOD

19 Thou believest that there is one God;
thou doest well:
the devils also believe,
and tremble.

James 2:19
King James Version

I like that verse from the apostle James.

It makes my warrior heart feel even more robust as I serve the LORD.

It also echoes a previous post I wrote about Jesus being the SON of God -- of how you can prove the SON of God's Lordship, by what His enemies say of Him.

And I think to myself, if evil knows God, how can humans continue to think there's no evil, no God, or that all is lost?

The devil knows who the SON of God is, thus, tries to even tempt the LORD who had just fasted 40 days and nights.

This fallen one knew the Lord was hungry, and offered Him his usual fare -- food and puny power from his world.

That's pure insanity.

Tempting the LORD, your God, your CREATOR.

Right.

I think satan's really crazy, and desperate.

Oh, the means, and methods he cooks up, non-stop.

If you read the Bible, you'd know his schemes.

If you've read sample chapters from my 22 books on spiritual warfare, you'd have an idea.

The apostle James beautifully puts things in perspective, about the POWER of our BELIEF in God:

"...the devils also believe,
and tremble."

Can you imagine the significance of such a statement?

Has it sunk in yet?

Or what about what the apostle James says here, taken a phrase at a time:

"Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you."

James 4:7
King James Version

Do you see the POWER of God, now?

Neither are we powerless.

Do you see what our UNWAVERING belief in the LORD does to the evil ones?

Do you see what PERFECT obedience to God can do to help us?

We can all find comfort in those James verses.

The idea is for evil to find NO opening in your heart, mind, and spirit to roost.

To be sure, this impostor is the god of the world, and aims to hide the Gospel of CHRIST from you, preferring you wallow in darkness.

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not,
lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ,
who is the image of God,
should shine unto them.

2 Corinthians 4:4
King James Version

That's why you have to be vigilant.

You have to give your heart to the LORD, read His WORD, live by His LAWS, commit your life to Him, follow Him EVERY step of the way, and evil cannot take root in you, much less destroy you.

You also have to put on the WHOLE "Armor of God", for you cannot "flirt" with evil.

It will destroy you.

It was coded to destroy.

Only JESUS, the SON of God, can make evil tremble in fear.

They know His power to destroy them -- TOTALLY.

By the GRACE of God, through the POWER and NAME of JESUS, through our desire and humility to know God, through the GUIDANCE of the Holy SPIRIT, we can overcome all errors, avoid all traps, strengthen ourselves against temptation, and survive the darkness pervading this world.

Have no fear, if the LORD is in your heart.

Better yet, let the Lord BE your heart.

4 Yea,
though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalm 23:4
King James Version

Right now, the world has gone really crazy, so very ripe for correction, and the devil waits eagerly for more souls to corrupt.

Let it not be our souls, for I only care to be with the LORD.

Do you, too?
